WHAT A WEEK
This week was sooo good!
Tuesday we had exchanges! (For those who don't know exchanges are when you have a new companion for the day and you set goals and get to know each other). It was a ton of fun. The sisters in our zone are so cool and I'm lucky to be serving with them! They have very unique stories and it's really cool to hear why they decided to serve missions. We are all so grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and want others to experience the joy that we've experienced!
GUYS! We got to go across the mackinaw bridge on Wednesday!!! Seriously the coolest experience ever. It was beautiful. Our district council was in the Sault st. Marie which is the top of the upper peninsula and right next to the Canadian border. It was so so so cool to be that far north. It's beautiful. I loved it!! Heavenly Father definitely knew what He was doing when he called me to serve in Michigan.
As great as the Mackinaw Bridge was,,,,,,,SUSAN WAS BAPTIZED ON SATURDAY!!!
That was even greater!! ;)
Susan is a lady that the sisters here have been teaching for about 7 months. She has overcome so much. Her baptism was beautiful! She was so happy and so ready to be making covenants with God! She is truly one of God's elect. She knew that baptism isn't a "one and done" deal. It's the start of a lifelong commitment to follow God. She talked about how she can't wait to go to the temple one day. She said she wants to be a light for others who are searching for the truth. I feel so blessed to know her and I can't wait to see what a light she will be to our little Cheboygan twig!! I'm proud of her for taking the first step in following God.
Okay I just have to say that I love the people in Cheboygan. Sunday was such a good day! We have a Sunday school class over zoom after church every week. It's the greatest thing to be a part of. There are about 5-10 members that join in every week. and most of them are older. and it is sooo awesome. They have amazing stories and they strengthen and encourage each other all the time! It's so easy to go through the motions of living the Gospel. It's definitely not like that here. They love their Savior and they love each other! I feel honored to be a part of it.
Later we had a devotional for our entire mission over zoom (we have those a few times a week). The lady who spoke talked about not comparing. It was so good! When we get caught in the trap of comparing, it can take our happiness away. Heavenly Father made us exactly how we were supposed to be. we have divine worth and there's no sense in trying to change who we are.
I was reading in 1 Nephi ch. 17 this week. This chapter is when nephi is commanded to build a boat to take his family across the ocean. that's a pretty hefty commandment... especially for someone who had no idea how to build a boat! BUT. the thing I love about this chapter is that nephi just did it! he didn't hesitate at all. he knew that if God commanded him to do something, God would provide a way to make it happen, no matter how hard it seemed. Sometimes in our lives it's easy to receive a prompting from God and think "that's too hard. there's no way i can do that" or "I don't understand why i need to do that". the cool thing though, is that God will ALWAYS provide a way for us to do what He needs us to do. He won't ask us to do something that won't benefit us or help us grow! We can trust Him! (Even if it's hard or we don't understand the reason why yet)
"And I will also be your alight in the wilderness; and I will prepare the way before you, if it so be that ye shall keep my commandments; wherefore, inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments ye shall be led towards the bpromised land; and ye shall cknow that it is by me that ye are led.
14 Yea, and the Lord said also that: After ye have arrived in the promised land, ye shall aknow that I, the Lord, am bGod; and that I, the Lord, did cdeliver you from destruction; yea, that I did bring you out of the land of Jerusalem." (1 Nephi 17: 13-14)
God's got you! Let Him lead you. Some day you'll know why, but for now keep trusting and keep going. He won't let you fall! I experienced this when I had to have ear surgery. It was hard to not know what was going to happen. But looking back, things happened EXACTLY the way they were supposed to. As I let God lead me, I saw so many miracles and was so blessed.
I love you all!!!
